I've run five marathons before, but it's been a couple of years since my last race. These days you're a lot more likely to find me in the weight room than out on the roads, and honestly I'd made my peace with that. Then the chance to run New York for The Phoenix came up, and I knew I had to lace up again.
I work on the team at The Phoenix, which means I get a front row seat to what this organization actually does. The staff, the members, the community. They inspire me every single day. I watch people walk in carrying things you can't see and walk out a little lighter, a little stronger, a little more themselves. That kind of work is worth a marathon. Honestly, it's worth a lot more than a marathon.
That's why I'm asking for your help. My goal is to raise $3,500 to keep Phoenix programs free and accessible to anyone with 48 hours or more of sobriety.
Your donation helps fund:
- Free fitness classes, hikes, and group workouts for people in recovery
- A community where people can show up exactly as they are
- Programs that build confidence, connection, and the kind of strength that sticks
26.2 miles is a long way, but the work The Phoenix does goes a lot further. Whether you can give $10, $25, or $100, you're helping someone get the same kind of support I see change lives every week.
Thank you for being part of this.
Together, we rise.
