Hi, I'm Emma. 26, Brooklyn-based, and this will be my third marathon and my second go at NYC.
I got sober this past August. Since then, I've been figuring out who I am on the other side of that, one day at a time. Running has always been the thing that keeps my head quiet when the rest of life is loud, and that's been true through this chapter too. The mileage on the calendar gives me something to show up for, even on the days I don't feel like it.
The Phoenix community has shown up for me through all of it, and now I want to give back. As I keep growing in my sobriety, I'm driven to deepen connections with other sober people and be of service to anyone still trying to find their way here. Running for Team Phoenix is one way I get to do that.
My goal is to raise $3,500 to keep Phoenix programs free for anyone with 48 hours or more of sobriety.
Your donation helps fund:
- Free fitness classes, runs, and group workouts for people in recovery
- A sober community where people actually want to know you
- Programs that meet people right where they are and walk with them from there
I'm looking forward to the process and the finish line. Whether you can give $10, $25, or $100, you're helping someone else find what I've found. Thanks for being part of it.
Together, we rise.
Six down. Keep them coming.
