"Running the NYC Marathon this year carries a deeper significance for me than it did two years ago. August 13th marks one year on my sobriety journey, a period that’s reshaped my understanding of myself and the world around me. I’m running with The Phoenix to show my deep gratitude for the community that has surrounded me with unwavering love and support.
At first, I assumed my conversations would focus on restriction and willpower. The reality was a community that showed me the beauty of facing life’s inevitable pains without shrinking away from them. The sober community is based on relentless care, service, and a constant dialogue that asks each individual how they want to move through this world.
This journey has allowed me to clear and brighten the space in between my ears. I’m committed to doing my small part to open the road of recovery to people who need support, which often means alleviating the financial burden that comes with addiction recovery. Thank you to The Phoenix for being a guiding light in this space, I’m so grateful to be a part of the team!"
