I started running about 8 years ago, and it's quietly become one of the most important parts of my life. It's where I work things out, where I feel most like myself, and where I've learned what my body and mind can do when I keep showing up. I mostly run trails, so trading dirt for the streets of New York is going to be a whole new kind of challenge, and I'm here for it.
I also work with The Phoenix as a contract researcher, studying how physical movement shapes recovery outcomes. Every week I see the evidence of something I already feel every time I lace up: movement heals. For people in recovery, a run, a lift, a yoga class, or a group hike with other sober people can be the difference between isolation and belonging, between a hard day and a relapse. The Phoenix builds that community for free, for anyone with 48 hours or more of sobriety.
That's why I'm running for them, and why I'm hoping you'll chip in. My goal is to raise $3,500 to help keep Phoenix programs free and open to everyone who needs them.
Your donation helps fund:
- Free fitness classes for people in recovery
- A community that gets the journey because they're walking it too
- Programs that build strength, physical and emotional, from the ground up
On race day I'll carry every name on this list with me through all five boroughs. Whether it's $10, $25, or $100, every contribution gets us closer to the goal and helps someone start, or keep going.
Thank you for backing this. Thank you for believing in recovery.
Together, we rise.
