I had no idea then how much life would change over the next two decades. Career moves, personal growth, becoming a husband and father, moves across geographies, and the community we've built along the way.
These days, my family and I live in Costa Rica, where being active in the natural world with friends and neighbors is a big part of our daily lives. This November, as I approach my 50th birthday, I'm coming back to the NYC Marathon, 20 years later, as a celebration of growth, gratitude, and Pura Vida.
I'm running with The Phoenix because I believe in their mission deeply. Most of us know someone touched by addiction, and recovery doesn't happen in isolation. It flourishes in supportive, active communities. The Phoenix builds exactly that. Spaces where people can rise and rediscover their strength through movement and connection.
My goal is to help raise $3,500 to keep Phoenix programs free and accessible to anyone with 48 hours or more of sobriety.
Your donation helps fund:
- Free fitness classes, hikes, and group workouts for people in recovery
- A community where people can show up and rebuild together
- Programs that turn movement into a real path forward for thousands of people
I'm running this one to celebrate some personal milestones, and to celebrate the strength all of us find when we move forward together. Whether you can give $10, $25, or $100, every contribution helps The Phoenix grow these communities into more lives and more cities.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
Together, we rise.
