I’m Melissa, a runner from Massachusetts, and in 2026 I’ll be standing on the Champs-Élysées at the start of the Paris Marathon as part of Team Phoenix. The Phoenix is a national community that builds sobriety through community and fitness.
With hundreds of FREE weekly sober events and activities, it’s a safe space for all individuals to connect, build friendships, find support, and have fun.
Paris will be my first marathon and my biggest love letter yet to recovery. I’m running 26.2 miles for everyone in the Phoenix, for those who support them, the ones we’ve lost, for those still out there suffering, and for every single one of us choosing to thrive.
