This July, I'm tackling RAGBRAI 53—391 miles across the state of Iowa in seven days. It's the world's longest and largest recreational bike ride, and I'm dedicating every pedal stroke to The Phoenix.
I’ve been part of The Phoenix community for five years and a volunteer for the last four, and it’s had a real impact on my life. The Phoenix is different because of its focus on connection over clinical treatment--offering free fitness activities, outdoor adventures, and social events, all grounded in a simple 48-hour sobriety commitment.
I’ve built multiple meaningful relationships, I feel safe, and have a strong sense of community and belonging from their non-traditional traditional approach. The variety of activities keeps it engaging, and the peer-led community creates real accountability and support.
Riding in RAGBRAI this year is my way of giving back and helping others find the same kind of community, safety and confidence that’s been so helpful to me.
If you can make a one time donation, or $1 a mile, $.50 a mile, $.25 a mile or $5 for every pork chop I eat during the ride I would greatly appreciate it!
THANK YOU!
