At its core, this ride is about building community. The Phoenix was founded on the belief that recovery is stronger together. When you have a community of support behind you, you don’t just recover, you rise.

/ The Weekend(02)

Ride together, rise together. A weekend rooted in cycling, recovery and real human connection.

Over the course of two days around San Francisco we’ll share meals and miles while raising money to support the free programming The Phoenix provides for those in recovery. You’ll leave the weekend with memories and friendships that last a lifetime — and the satisfaction that comes from riding for a cause bigger than yourself.

Open to riders of all backgrounds and abilities — whether you’re riding for recovery, riding for belonging, or riding simply because you love being on a bike. You are welcome here.

Lachlan Morton

Lachlan Morton

Lachlan Morton is an Australian professional cyclist with EF Pro Cycling whose career has redefined what is possible on two wheels. After competing at the highest level of WorldTour road racing, he forged a path beyond the traditional peloton, taking on some of cycling's most ambitious endurance challenges. His adventures include completing the entire Tour de France route and its transfers unsupported, riding 5,500 kilometers and reaching Paris five days ahead of the race, and setting a record by cycling 14,200 kilometers around Australia in just over 30 days. Along the way, Lachlan has used these extraordinary efforts to raise significant funds for causes including World Bicycle Relief, Ukrainian refugees, and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. His adventurous spirit and belief in cycling as a force for connection and positive change have made him one of the sport's most inspiring figures.

Andrew Talansky

Andrew Talansky

Andrew Talansky is a former professional cyclist known for his grit and versatility across the world's most demanding endurance races. A Miami native who discovered cycling at 17 and never looked back, he went on to become one of the top American riders of his generation, earning a Tour de France Top 10, a Vuelta a España Top 5, a U.S. national title and numerous WorldTour wins and podiums. Today, Andrew finds his greatest joy riding for community and causes bigger than himself, using sport as a way to connect, give back and inspire others.

Matt Accarrino

Matt Accarrino

Executive Chef Matthew Accarrino draws on his Italian heritage, classical training, and deep commitment to direct sourcing to create a technically refined yet soulful Cal-Italian cuisine that has earned five consecutive James Beard nominations, a spot on Food & Wine's "Best New Chefs" list, and coverage in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, and Michelin, among others. In 2013, he led SPQR in San Francisco's Pacific Heights to its first Michelin star, and in spring 2023 opened Mattina, an all-day restaurant celebrating handmade pasta, charcoal hearth cooking, and an in-house bakery. Outside the kitchen, he's a sponsored elite cyclist competing at the national level and a mainstay of the Bay Area cycling community.
