The Phoenix is building its fifth community center — a permanent, free home for recovery, wellness, and connection in North Philadelphia.

At 1112 Roy Street, a long-vacant building becomes a free, membership-based home for the sober active community — peer-led, trauma-informed, and open to anyone with 48 hours of sobriety to train, climb, lift, and belong. It anchors The Phoenix’s work in Pennsylvania, where we’ve already served more than 30,000 people since 2016.

The need
A neighborhood the crisis hit hardest, with the fewest places to turn.
(03)North Philadelphia has been disproportionately impacted by the opioid epidemic. Despite the scale of the crisis, accessible, long-term recovery infrastructure remains limited across many of its neighborhoods. The Roy Street Community Center will help close that gap — a free, welcoming space where anyone can build healthy routines, connect with peers, and find a path forward.

Gifts are payable to Phoenix Multisport, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Naming recognition carries a term of three to five years by space, and commitments may be paid over multiple years. Naming is subject to a standard mutual-approval agreement covering recognition design, term, and organizational standards; multi-asset packages can be structured as a single blended commitment. 100% of naming proceeds offset capital costs of the Philadelphia facility — every dollar goes to the building, not overhead.

The Phoenix purchased the long-vacant building at 1112 Roy Street and secured the site for redevelopment.
- 02December 2025 · Underway
Construction begins
Structural stabilization, new HVAC, plumbing and electrical, fire suppression, and site improvements get underway.
- 03December 2026
Phase 1 opens — first floor
The first floor opens and free, peer-led programming begins while construction continues on the second floor.
- 04FY 2027
Phase 2 buildout
The full second-floor buildout brings the center to full capacity, expanding how many neighbors we can serve.

Roy Street opens completely — a permanent home for recovery, wellness, and community in North Philadelphia.
