Hi everyone, I am Lisa. I manage a very special softball team here in the Orange County rec leagues, and we need your financial support to keep our players on the field—and to keep our community thriving.
We play under the name "The Phoenix." Since we started in 2022, we have seen over 50 players come through our dugout across 16 seasons. For many of us, this team is a crucial stepping stone. People often join us in early recovery when they are just trying to figure out how to have fun again without substances. We play hard, we laugh a lot, and eventually, many players move on to other teams—and that is exactly what we want to see.
Getting on the field takes money, and we need your help. Your donation directly covers our league registration, umpire fees for every game, uniforms, and batting cage sessions. When you give, you are not just buying softballs—you are funding an environment that breaks the stigma around addiction. You are giving us the space to have enlivening, fulfilling conversations about sobriety right there on the bleachers.
We put our own skin in the game. Our players donate to this fund ourselves, and The Phoenix steps up to match our contributions up to a specific threshold. It is a true co-sponsorship that allows us to amplify the transformational power of connection. If we exceed our financial goals for the season, those extra funds take us beyond the diamond. We use them for community activities like rock climbing, skating, and pickleball—anything that brings us together and builds a better tomorrow, today.
