Natalie's The Phoenix Fundraiser

The Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that hosts sober events to create safe spaces for individuals to connect, build friendships, find support, and have fun. All of their events are 100% alcohol-free/substance-free, and range in type from live music to wellness to sports and beyond.

The goal is to raise $5,000 for the leg of The Phoenix that's responsible for organizing live music events (The Phoenix Presents), so that we can enjoy more of their concerts, festivals and other fun experiences down the road. My fundraiser is being run in conjunction with their next show, "Greetings From New York" on 12/12/25 in Brooklyn, NY, featuring Murray's Law and Evan Jennison.

Why am I running this fundraiser, you might ask? Well, there's a few reasons...

  • My partner, Rob, has been 100% sober for almost a year and a half. He didn't struggle with addiction issues prior to starting his sobriety journey, but alcohol and other substances just didn't agree with his body chemistry. For the sake of his mental health, and our relationship, he decided to cut out alcohol and drugs. It's inspiring to see him thriving, both personally and professionally, in this new chapter of his life. And I'm pleased to report that he enjoys live music every bit as much now as he did before he got sober.
  • In May of 2025, Rob and I attended The Phoenix's "Music on the Mountain" festival in VT. There was no alcohol sold at the event, which resulted in a lovely afternoon and evening of music without people talking over the artists, spilling drinks on other people, or being generally obnoxious. I came out of the weekend in awe of how amazing it was to experience the festivities in a sober environment, and wanting others to experience it as well!
  • I'm a fan of community, and The Phoenix promotes community, plain and simple.
  • I love live music.

You don't need to be sober or in recovery to participate in this fundraiser, but the money you donate will help support those who are! (You don't need to be sober or in recovery to run this fundraiser either...in the spirit of full transparency, I am not 100% sober; I use cannabis and occasionally drink.)

Thank you in advance for your donation! Please spread the word about the fundraiser by sharing it with friends and family.

Fit to be King

I started showing up to The Phoenix because someone I loved was struggling and I didn't know what else to do. I thought I was there to help. Turns out I needed it just as much. Recovery doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in a gym at 6am when someone you just met is cheering you on. It happens on a trail when you're too tired to think about anything but putting one foot in front of the other. It happens in a parking lot after a workout when the conversation goes longer than it should and nobody wants to leave. That's what The Phoenix builds. Not just programs. Not just events. The kind of community that makes you want to show up even when you don't feel like it, and keeps you coming back because something in you knows it matters. I'm fundraising for The Giving Bridge because I've seen what happens when people have access to this community and what happens when they don't. The difference is real and it's worth fighting for. If you've been touched by addiction, recovery, or the people navigating both, you already know why this matters. If you haven't, trust me when I say your donation does more than you think. Every dollar goes toward keeping The Phoenix free and accessible for anyone with 48 hours of sobriety. No barriers, no cost, no catching up. Just show up. Help me build the bridge.
